PEOPLE of the Catholic faith in Fiji have issues in their marriage life when they choose to marry people from other denominations.

Archbishop Peter Loy-Chong made this comment during the Archdiocese of Suva Synod sessions that ended at the Novotel Hotel in Lami yesterday.

He said those were some of the issues on the topic of marriage and family that were discussed in the week-long meeting.

The synod, Archbishop Loy-Chong said aimed to bring members of the church together to discuss issues and ways to uplift the church.

He said there were other issues discussed such as the need for youth empowerment, education, the need to conserve the environment and uphold the values of the Catholic church.

“Members of the synod have supported the interventions for the proposal to address the issues. People have different views on the issues raised,” he said.

Archbishop Loy-Chong said he would put together a document as part of the church’s strategic plan to tackle the issues raised by the synod members.
