Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of rock ‘n’ roll legend, Elvis Presley, died on January 12 aged 54, her mother Priscilla Presley confirmed in a statement.

The singer was rushed to hospital on the morning of 12 January having suffered cardiac arrest.

A few hours later the tragic news of her death was confirmed. Born in 1968 to Elvis and her actress mother Priscilla, Lisa Marie Presley was just nine when her famous father died in 1977 aged 42.

Elvis died of a heart attack, likely brought on by his addition to prescription barbiturates. Presley spent the first four years of her life at her parents’ mansion, Graceland, in Memphis, Tennessee.

Elvis doted on his daughter and even named his jet after her.

Her parents were divorced in 1973. Presley lived with her mother in Los Angeles, with regular visits with her father. Days before her death, Presley visited Graceland to celebrate what would have been Elvis’ 88th birthday on 8 January.

Presley forged her own name in the music industry releasing three albums.

She was also well-known for a series of high-profile marriages to pop legend Michael Jackson, actor Nicolas Cage and musicians Keough and Michael Lockwood and had four children.
