Fijian students completing their secondary education this year have a chance to study in India under the Indian High Commission’s 2022 Scholarship Program.
While in Lautoka over the weekend, a team from the embassy highlighted 30 scholarships available for Fijian students who wished to pursue careers in a wide range of fields.
Indian High Commission second secretary Ashok Kumar Singh said the scholarships were available to students who were interested in studying in some of India’s prestigious institutions.
“They can apply for most of the courses they want to pursue except for medicine,” he said.
“They can study in some of the best universities in India which is something that not even our citizens have access to.
“So these 30 scholarships are available to students who are completing their high school education and they want to study in very good universities while learning and experiencing our culture.
“These scholarships will cover everything, including airfares when they begin their studies until they complete it.
“We have scholarships for Bachelor and even Masters programs so we want to really encourage our Fijian students to apply for them because this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
The scheme has been administered by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) with the support of the High Commission of India and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre.
