The Fiji Airways Fiji 7s squad members will engage in more community work in a bid to give back to the community.

Last week, the national team took time out from their hectic training schedule to do some community work in Sigatoka.

The players were present at the Sigatoka hospital to where they dismantled some tents and also did some gardening.

Fijian 7s coach Ben Gollings said as a national team, it was important to give back to those where they obviously got a lot of their support from. Gollings said the opportunity to give back was very important.

“It is also good for the team in terms of doing some collective team bonding exercise so we are able to work together in a different environment,” he said.

“The guys did some tent dismantling and then fixed up a vegetable patch which was awesome.

“I think it was also nice to be able to connect to those around you.

“We have spent a little bit of time in Sigatoka and the boys spent a little bit of time being fixed up in the hospital with those niggling injuries.

“It was nice to be here to support those who supported us and give back.”

Gollings said they planned to do more community programs in the future.

The Fiji 7s is in France for the Toulouse 7s from May 20-22.

Fiji is pooled with France, Wales and Kenya for the tournament.
