THE Registrar of Political Parties says it has received an application disputing a list of Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) office holders submitted by Emele Duituturaga.

Supervisor of Elections and Registrar of Political Parties, Mohammed Saneem, said the application was filed by Adi Litia Qionibaravi, who also disputed the submission of Ms Duituturaga’s name as the registered officer of the party.

Adi Litia disputed the list of office holders of the Party that purportedly signed in support of Ms Duituturaga.

Mr Saneem said in the interest of natural justice, he had forwarded the particulars of the dispute to Ms Duituturaga for her response.

He said Ms Duituturaga had been allowed until 12 noon today to provide her response, if any.

Earlier, he told the media the Fijian Elections Office did not interfere in the individual running of political parties.

“We are independent and how a party functions and the activities within the party is controlled directly by political parties and as such, we will leave that to the political party to comment on,” he said.

The names submitted by Ms Duituturaga yesterday morning as office holders and persons in charge of SODELPA in the four divisions were as follows: Northern Division person in charge – Timoci Bulitavu, Eastern Division – Rupeni Vakamoce, Central Division – Waisea Tuisese and Western Division – Ratu Tevita Komaisavai.

The party’s president/acting president – Vijay Singh, vice-president 2 / acting capacity – Jone Tevita Lesuma, vice-president 3 / acting – Georgina Raiwalai, party leader – Sitiveni Rabuka, general secretary – Emele Duituturaga and treasurer – Ruci Lala.
