“Your destiny is in your hands.”
These were the words of Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Inia Seruiratu to students of the Christian Mission Fellowship (CMF) College in Nasinu when he visited them last week.
“You don’t have to be rich to be successful but it’s how you make the most of your opportunities,” he said.
“You will only reap what you sow.”
He encouraged the Year 12 and Year 13 students to work hard and excel in school in accordance with the expectations of their parents, teachers, the school and Government as a whole.
“There will always be problems but there are always solutions,” he said.
“One of the issues in solving problems that confront us daily is education. Education is the doorway, education is the key.”
Mr Seruiratu encouraged the students to be visionary in determining their goals in life.
He reminded the students that as members of an institution, they needed to align to the disciplinary culture imposed by the institution.
The teachers, he said, had set standards and students needed to follow their leaders to achieve the mission and vision of the school.
“Live a disciplined life and be a very good citizen of this country. Remember, self discipline is very important, it will take you a long way.”
