THE 2019 Fiji Airways Farmers Carnival will bring the focus back to farmers.

This was the assurance from organising committee president Vyas Deo Sharma who says the week-long festival is expected to offer new experiences for the people of Lautoka.

“Our farmers were the reason for the start of the carnival so we wanted to put the spotlight back on them,” Mr Sharma said.

“Over the years, the focus has sort of shifted away from that but this year, with a new committee, we wanted to work with our farmers closely.

“Most importantly we wanted to make sure that the carnival benefits them.”

Kicking off on June 15 at the Churchill Park Carnival Grounds, Mr Sharma said the carnival would have a variety of activities for festival goers.

“The new committee has decided that we are going to have a carnival to ensure that the people of Lautoka and its neighbouring districts benefit as well.

“We will have cheaper rides, more stalls with a variety of food on sale and the entertainment will be better too. We are going to have a week of fun. Whether people are coming during the day or in the night they will still be able to have fun.”

The theme of this year’s carnival is “Farmers and Climate Change”.
