Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry says if the Labour government comes into power, it will re-open the case of all workers who have been dismissed unfairly without due process.
“We will see that justice is done to all these workers,” Mr Chaudhry said.
“I am referring to workers in statutory organisations such as FRCA, WAF, ATS and Fiji Airways who were made redundant without due process.”
In the lead up to the 1999 general election, he promised to reinstate 358 Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji workers who were unfairly dismissed in early April 1999, during a restructure when Airports Fiji Ltd took over the management of Nadi Airport.
Mr Chaudhry said in the capacity of the general secretary of the Fiji Public Service Association, he had promised then that the workers, dismissed unfairly would be re-instated should Labour get into government.
In its 2022 manifesto, Labour has promised to fully restore the rights of all workers and their unions and ensure fair treatment at the workplace.
